Spring ‘ventures 2009

The Marino’s took a week to visit family in Texas. It was a good trip. Here are the hi-lites.
I wanted to canoe the Guadalupe River but drought has kept the river very low. None-the-less, we did find a little chute with enough water to session.

Flying 2500 miles and driving 900 miles with McKenna at 7 months old was a challenge, but it all worked out good.

My Aunt Neva has a 3 wheel bike that worked perfect for Dara and McKenna.

Here’s the video.

It was a good trip but we do love it back home in Arizona… cause…
We still have snow up on the Kachina Peaks. This day’s tour took me and Sazi to Doyle Peak. Here’s a shot of the the Baby Peaks and Doyle Peak far right.

Hundred degree view from the summit of Doyle. Left to right: Fremont, Agassiz, Humprey’s and Aubineau Peaks.

I ripped and Sazi ran the avalanche path named Telescope. The wind packed snow of the 40+ degree slopes near the summit was “interesting”, but the middle and lower sections really made my day. Those dozen turns in the middle were big, fast and creamy churns!

Last weekend I road up and down Elden Lookout Road, then around Elden via dirt roads and tacky-fun singletrack. Itsa looking like another good spring. Rumor has it that I might get to have a little white water fun on the Salt River next week…
